Silkscarf Viognier 2019

Silkscarf Viognier 2019

Aren't the best wines from some the producers that seem to fly under the radar? I rarely see Silkscarf on the shelves or on restaurant menus but clearly, that's because those in the know buy them out. I did a post on their 2018 Chardonnay a while back and it was one of the best wines I tasted this year. I quickly ordered up a few of the newer vintage and couple of their other wines as well, including this 2019 Viognier.

Medium+ bodied, this wine poured a clear, pale lemon-lime green and breathed aromas of jasmine, citrus blossom, pineapple, green apple and grapefruit. It filled the mouth with it's rich and heavy texture, smooth, dry and spirited acidity. The flavours of green apple, pear, peach, lime zest and pink grapefruit coat every corner. There's a hum of gravelly minerality and floral notes on the palate too.

So what to pair with this dreamy, Okanagan Viognier? We had it with steaming bowls of my Peanut Curry with Pineapple and the richness of the wine paired beautifully with the mild, aromatic flavours and rich coconut milk. I'd suggest giving that a try for sure. Otherwise, try it with a butternut squash pasta, or seared scallops on a parsnip purée.

Cheers!
