Laurent-Perrier Champagne Cuvée Rosé

Laurent-Perrier Champagne Cuvée Rosé

The Laurent-Perrier Champagne house has a long and storied history, full of tragedy and triumph. It's owners have lost their lives in a cellar accident in the late 1800's and later on owners have fought in World War 2. But through it all it has become one of the most successful Champagne houses. It's also the largest family and female owned and operated properties in Champagne.

Grabbed a bottle of their signature Cuvée Rosé Champagne to celebrate a work milestone the other day. (I'm so fortunate to work with some other wine lovers and try to choose something special when get to expense a bottle.) Laurent-Perrier's Cuvée Rosé uses 100% Pinot Noir sourced from ten different crus, including Grand Cru vineyards.

What a bright and exuberant wine. Bright salmon pink colour with delicate bubbles, this wine is alive on the nose and palette. Vibrant red cherry, raspberry and strawberry with underlying orange zest, biscuit and toasted almond. The freshness of the fruit is clearly preserved in the wine making process with lovely notes of the lees aging rounding out the profile. Think raspberry scone or cherry clafoutis with almond. The mousse is soft and consistent and the acidity bright with a dry, long lingering finish.

The perfect aperitif, toast with a glass before dinner or enjoy with duck a l'orange or a cherry gastrique.

Cheers!
